Adding a new dining dimension to the CERES complex, this eco-friendly diner brings a welcome change up to the otherwise predictable Brunswick set.
Practicing what it preaches, the Merri Table gets most of its produce from the organic kitchen garden out back, and anything else is bought from small, local producers. On the food front, there's a distinctly Middle Eastern slant to the menu, with a few nods in the direction of Mediterranean cooking. This allows the Merri to produce low-cost, healthy and mainly vegetarian meals in line with the ethos here. Similarly, an all-Vic wine list reduces food (wine) miles while supporting local producers.
