The first of what has grown into franchise, the original Merchant Tea and Coffee Co. stands strong with its vast selection of exotic teas and mixture of locally roasted coffee beans. The warmed or iced beverages hog the limelight here, but there are some nice snacks on offer to compliment the dramatic drinks.

reward card
I have a complaint about the dishonouring of reward card coffee at rockingham beachfront. two of the stamps were signatures from murray st. and the barrista at rockingham told me on sunday he would not honour the free coffee cause it had two signatures from murray st. Not my fault they had no stamps on the murray st venue It alredy takes me nine coffees to get a free one It was rude and embarrassing for me. Not the kind of thing to encourage my patronage. I've had signed cards for dome and they have all been honoured. Why is rockingham so willing to fob me off as a customer

lovely
Ordering was easy by simply lining up. Was not busy that day. Tried their Chai Latte and was delicious! Food was good. Seating outside is lovely. Inside looks a bit dim, but good for privacy/intimacy I suppose. Will come back to try other hot drinks.

Truly a disaster of a coffee house.
This establishment was a let down in all respects, so much so that I do not believe it warrants the status 'coffee house' at all. The service is line-based, which unfortunately is a commonality in amongst the 'chain' brands. I waited in line, ordering a roast chicken sandwich, which ultimately turned out to be soggy, small and far too heavy. The atmosphere tries to capture the dark, muted warmth of the coffee house, but is, quite contrarily, a filthy and and grimy experience. Lastly, the pricing was not at all worth the food we were served. $10.90 for an ultimately foul-tasting sandwich with all the worst parts of the chicken being used. The only thing remotely in common this place had with a coffee house was its ability to attract coffee-loving bourgoise, company that it truly does not deserve.

Disapointing
I went to the Merchant Tea and Coffe Company in Perth for lunch and was quite disapointed with the food and service. We had to wait in a rather long que to order at the counter and even then I wasn't seved straight away. The guy was friendly and when I ordered, it was fairly efficient.
My 'brunchie' came out fairly quickly, but was not fresh (probably microwaved - it was barely hot), very stodgy, and seriously lacking in flavour. I couldn't even eat the whole thing. I understand there is not an emphasis on food as the name implies, but if you're over paying five dollars for something, you should expect it to be good.
Won't be going there again.
