This Sex and the City-style, chic offering from Sydney restaurateur Denise Winters (whose credits include Potts Point's Chelsea Restaurant and Double Bay and Bondi Junction's New Regent Restaurants) lets the martinis flow beside the Italian-inspired lunch and dinnertime fare. Both slinky nightclub and dining hideaway, this centrally located Elizabeth Street establishment creates its own elegant, laidback and hyper-modern rhythm outside of the bustling CBD through a funky mood-lit art deco space designed to satisfy drinkers, diners, dancers and social butterflies. Make mine a Manhattan!

I'll take Manhattan
The food may not be the best in the city but the prices certainly are and the setting is pretty sexy. Hidden in a little basement off Martin Place on Elizabeth St in Sydney, Manhattan Lounge offers some of the best value dining I've seen in the Sydney CBD in a room that's stylish and contemporary. Best of all you can buy wine for $5 a glass although we opted for a bottle instead of the house wine and even then only paid $24. Definitely a find in these tight economic conditions when people are looking for somewhere stylish to eat without breaking the bank. The servings are not huge but it's probably a good thing and for the price you won't find much better. $7 main meals include chicken schnitzel, rump steak with mushroom sauce and grilled fish with salad, but there are other options like pizzas, which range from $7 - $14 and are quite good plus a couple of starters etc. Service was friendly and casual and all up a good experience.
