The London Club

While the name is derived from the old London Woolstore building in which it is located, it is an entirely appropriate appellation for the venue's English gentlemen's club style. The space is split into several distinct areas and furnished with a mixture of leather sofas, bookshelves and knick-knacks. A ring of dark red banquettes border the space, creating a sultry break in the dusky charcoal-toned decor. The venue is designed for lounging back over the course of an evening, settling into comfy chairs and nibbling on tapas snacks whenever the mood strikes. To facilitate this style of lazy indulgence, The London Club offers a menu of eclectic tidbits, from Middle Eastern-spiced lamb tarts to (that bar snack classic) salt and pepper squid. Diners can order a couple of dishes for a quick and satisfying solo meal, or better yet, snuggle into a sofa and slowly wade through the whole menu with a friend, like an informal degustation. Best of all, virtually everything on the wine list is poured by the glass, so the tapas feast can be accompanied by a different vino for every course.

Officially my new fav place in brisbane
Just stumbled into The London Club on my way to a xmas party. Wow what a cool place for brissie. Had some delicious Tapas and a champas, then a cheese plate and a glass of Pinot. This place was buzzing - I can see why

Just Right
This place has got the lot! We had a trio of tapas and a bottle of wine and then desert. The food was exceptional, the staff were friendly and attentive although not intrusive. The London Club is destined to become one of our favourites.

Spot on
I read the reviews before heading to The London club there was one good and one bad. I don't normally write reviews but in the case I had to. I had a great experience It has been a long time since I have had service like we experienced last night. The staff where swift and actually had a memory and could remember what we were drinking. The atmosphere was friendly and fun. I would definitely recommend it for a night out.

Definitely worth the trip
On a recent trip to Brisbane I was fortunate enough to visit the London Club. I had heard about it through a friend and decided to meet a few mates down there for dinner and a drink.

Coming from Melbourne you tend to expect a lot from a bar/restaurant and the London Club didn't let me down. In many ways it reminded of the great Melbourne institution - The Supper Club.

The first thing that strikes you about the London Club is the atmosphere. You immediately feel at home. You can kick back and relax in one of the comfy chairs or just chill out on the veranda and watch the world go by. Inside the fit out is fantastic with great attention to detail.

The second thing I love about it is the wine list. I love my wine and they had lots of great ones to chose from. You just cant go wrong. The food was great too.

Finally I thought the service was great. They looked after us well.

I would recommend this place to anyone who just wants to chill out and relax in a great place. I hear that some of the Wallabies frequent the place ... now they have taste!

I've tried, I really have
I've been to the London Club a few times, and I really wanted to like it. It's hard to pinpoint why I don't. The food is reasonable, nothing fantastic but then it's not expensive either.

There's two main problems I think - the first is the service, your table has to be absolutely full of empty glasses before the staff can be bothered to come out from behind the bar to pick them up, the second is the wine - the wine list is good, however a few times I have had a glass of wine that I've had before (elsewhere), but at the London Club it has tasted awful. I couldn't work out why this was, until I realised they weren't opening up a new bottle, so maybe the bottles had been open for a few days? When I'm paying $15 a glass I want fresh wine.

Give it a go, but make sure they open a new bottle of wine for you!
