Adelaide's glam set, well-to-do culture junkies and business movers and shakers can all be found here. The Lion remains a mainstay in this city, whether it's for a sublime lunch or dinner, or just a coffee over the newspaper.

Sunday Breakfast a shambles
We booked Sunday breakfast at the Lion and took friends from Melbourne. We all ordered various different cooked breakfasts. These took an hour (yes one hour!) to arrive. Even the coffees took 3/4 hour to arrive. When we found someone to ask about the delay, the lame response was that it took time to boil the water for the poached eggs! The hollandaise sauce on my eggs benedict was obviously from a packet and they was sitting not on a muffin but on a huge lump of burnt toast which was not only totally inedible, I couldn't even cut it with my knife. One person at our table had scrambled eggs with asparagus - it arrived minus the asparagus. This was delivered some time later- after he'd eaten his eggs. The delivery system for food is ridiculously inefficient. Waiting staff are forced to wander up and down Jerningham Street and inside the building with meals getting cold whilst looking for table numbers to deliver them to. To add insult to injury, one of our guests had her toasted sandwich whipped away from in front of her before she had finished eating. The whole thing was shambolic and amateurish- and annoying. I am baffled at the popularity of breakfast at the Lion. I certainly won't be going back!
