If you're going to sample the Leinster Arms' crab and mussel hotpot, then you'd better come armed with your sleeves rolled up, an absorbent bib and very, very hollow legs. This boat, I mean bowl, of broth comes with a rare generosity of seafood and the taste of bouillabaisse slightly tweaked for Melburnian palates. Stubborn mussel shells and cracking crab claws may keep you from being the life of the conversation, but if you take the chance to look up, you'll see one of Melbourne's oldest pubs filled with locals so loyal the staff stay behind well after knock-off to shoot the breeze with them. Of course, you would notice a lot more if you decided to go with a burger, a steak, a pizza or oysters - you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Mark 'Chopper' Read, who is known to frequent the restaurant.

Had a Great Time at the Leinster Arms
The Food has been superb, Frank and the rest of the kitchen staff do a superb job, from pasta's to meat fish you name it, and don't miss the deserts.
great atmosphere, a superb pub with great rustic and cosy style, the staff is great , and so was the entertainment, especially the thursday night's with Live Rock'n'Roll by "Bebop59", a place were I've introduced many friends and family, must do it again soon..

What a find! Great value, great food in Collingwood
Taking my parents out is always fraught with danger, but my sister suggested the Leinster Arms Hotel. The building is beautiful but the atrium does have a somewhat dated feel. The service could not be faulted. My father always finds ordering difficult and the staff were helpful and obliging to a T. My sister had the chicken parmigiana and my parents both ordered variations on the fish of the day which was John Dory. The accompanying sides were also great and variations of salads, various vegetables and chips were offered. Standard pub fare taken just that little step extra. I had the crab and mussel chilli hot pot, which is a steal at $19. It is the house specialty and they do it exceptionally well. The bowl is massive... more like a bucket and they are not shy with the seafood. Two halves of crab and at a guess perhaps a kilo or more of mussels supplemented with juicy pippis. When served the mussels were so fresh, they were still popping open. My favourite was the tomato bouillabaise stock that the seafood was lying in. Sweet, garlicky, delicious. I could have eaten a bowl of that on its own. Be warned though, the serve is huge. With finger bowls, nutcrackers and a bib, I still managed to wear quite a bit but it was worth it as I was in good company with a large table next door of ex-Collingwood footballers tucking in... bibs and all. Great value.
