The Lane Vineyard

Chef Glenn Carr (previously of the lauded Auge Ristorante) has set up his pans at The Lane Vineyard in the Adelaide Hills, serving up his brand of European-influenced contemporary cuisine. On his menu might be dishes such as salt and pepper spiced calamari with lemon aioli; or duck rillettes with olive oil, crostini and homemade orange marmalade. For dessert, the Grand Marnier-poached pear in chocolate red wine sauce will, according to owner Helen Edwards, "send you to heaven". For a quality drop, turn to the extensive list of locally produced single vineyard wines.

What a disappointment
What could have and should have been a fantastic wedding reception for our daughter turned out to be a big disappointment. The staff were very friendly and the wine was great but the food was sadly lacking. The main course was so small and there were no side dishes of vegetables whatsoever down our end of the table. The father of the bride had nothing to eat but the tiny steak that came on his plate. We asked for more sides to be brought out and later they brought one small plate of potato wedges only. He went without to ensure that our guests had something to eat. All in all it was very embarrassing watching our family and friends going hungry. I was very lucky to get my hands on one lettuce leaf, 3 green beans and one potato wedge. Very poor effort considering their over inflated prices. If you want value for money don't go to The Lane.

Sunday Lunch
What an experience! We booked for 2, for lunch & as we arrived at the door, we were very nicely greated & taken to our table. When we were seated we were very pomptly served & sat with a beautiful wine to taste! The 2008 Sauv Blanc was beautiful & so was the chardonnay, soon after & both were very large glasses. We then received our luch, the lamb & beef. Both meals were mouth watering & the best I had personally tasted in lamb & beef (I tried some of my Fiance's because it looked so good!). We then had a perfect cheese platter on the balcony out side and took some photos of the magnificent views! It was such a great day, with fantastic food, excellent service & superb atmosphere, we have decided to get married there this year!

Birthday Lunch
We all started with a little tasting at the bar. We ordered a bottle of 2007 Shiraz and a Sav. Blanc. Started with the little duckie things and steak for mains followed by apple thingys for dessert. The meal was delicious, the atmosphere and service was outstanding. The staff were friendly, and knew their wines backwards. OK, so it's not the cheapest place but for the view and tucker and wine it's ideal for a special occasion.Great for interstate or overseas guests.By the way the place was packed out. And, (eatme) the wine per glass was filled to the correct level. If you were'nt so miserly you should have bought a bottle !!!!

The place, the wine, the people
What a unique experience. The wines are outstanding (ask for a sneak preview of the 07 shiraz) and good cellar door prices for that take home bottle when you consider these are single vineyard wines.
The people are warm and welcoming and the new winter menu a must.
I would recommend this cellar door and bistro to any one wanting a special day out.

Spectacular views at spectacular prices
What a spectacular setting, one that complements the spectacular prices charged at this cellar door eatery. I refer to it as an eatery because it is basic cellar door that offers some good food.
I had the entree duck rillette, olive oil crostini & orange marmalade; and the Coorong Angus beef fillet, potato gratin & salsa verde as main. I had the wilted baby spinach, lemon & olive oil as a side dish. Although the food on offer is good, it certainly does not offer value for money.
The entree portion served, at a whopping $18, was miniscule. The lunch so far cost $59. Ah, then there is the wine. Once again, no value for money here. I had two glasses of wine, at a whopping $10 per glass, and I use the term whopping here because the amount poured into the wine glass was that equivalent to a cellar door tasting, a mere sip.
