Richmond residents are pretty spoilt with this grand old pub as their local. There's a front bar in which to enjoy a couple of pots before dinner and the dining room looks out over the pub's leafy garden. Though there's no pretention here, the menu is something for the proprietors to skite about. It might feature dishes such as onion and apple cider soup with gruyere toast; and rabbit cacciatore with fresh pappardelle; while those who can't imagine going to a pub without having steak will be satisfied by the eye fillet with oyster mushrooms and port jus.

Hidden Spot, Perfect for a Few
I often come here on Thursday and Friday evenings after work. Popular with both locals and similar after-work crew, there is a fine-dining restaurant at the back (which is usually quiet) and a outdoor area down the stairs (I've seen many heeled lasses tumbling down them after a few drinks). The menu is what you see on the blackboard with frequently changing specials. Great service, especially from the kind, burly gentleman behind the cash register (the owner?)
Can sometimes get very packed and noisy but I'm looking forward to when this place becomes smoke-free too.
