It may not be quite as old as the hills, but the heritage-listed Kalamunda Hotel oozes historical charm. With original art deco tiling in the entrance hall, high ceilings, intricate cornices, rich dark wood wall panelling, and solid timber floors, it's easy to imagine what life was like in this popular resort town during the early part of last century. Not surprisingly, the hotel is said to have the occasional ghostly visit from some of its former regulars.
Today, the Kalamunda remains popular with locals, day-trippers from the city and international tourists. In summer, people crowd the sunny beer gardens. In the cooler months, the hotel's three fireplaces keep the place welcoming and toasty.
The restaurant menu features some old favourites, including the chef's speciality, a rich beef and Guinness pie made from a secret family recipe.

not good at all
the carbonara came out 30 minutes late as shells, and a cream sauce with no egg yolk in sight that tasted very much like a continental packet meal... the other meals at the table were average at best too. 3 out of 10! And the boags that I bought and paid for turned out to be hahn... just with the boags sign on the tap! Pretty rich for nigh on 10 bucks a pint for most beers.
