The Jetty Restaurant

Bring an appetite to this wharfside buffet restaurant. Specialising in seafood and steak, the buffet table heaves with fresh fish, crustaceans and succulent eye fillets. Asian dishes such as Chinese roast pork and salt and pepper squid add a bit of international variety to the already broad range of dishes. As well as being great value for a family dinner (kids under 3 years old dine free), The Jetty enjoys a prime location at Stokes Hill Wharf. The large, stylish space sits right on the harbour, with the spacious deck hanging over the water. Lights placed under the deck shine out, sparkling on the water and turning even a family dinner into something potentially romantic.

Position, Position, poor service
Whilst this restaurant continues to offer quality meals in a relaxed atmosphere and a great price, the fine work of the chef is continually undermined by the waitstaff. While trying to conduct discussions with a long term friend my wife and I were subjected to continual interruptions to our table discussions mid sentence with immature comment from staff, while waiting over forty minutes just for our drinks (after two previous attempts to advise of the delay). The ho-hum approach by the staff here is apparent with requests such as "pass me the dirty plate" and would you like a "cognac or something else" and we don't want to kick you out, you can stay all night" when you are communicating with your client mid sentence over a meal. Good friendly and genuine service is definitely getting harder to find. The danger here for this business is that there are many other good restaurants in Darwin who offer superior service for the same or lower outlay and not all clients will be "one-off" interstate travellers.

Darwins BEST value Buffet - no question
While most has already been said about this restaurant on this forum I would like to add the amazing attentiveness given to its patrons. No sooner have you finished using your scrap bowl, they are whisked away and immediately replaced with a clean one. The drink waiter service is also worthy of a mention.
The seafood on offer includes cooked prawns, muscles, and freshly opened oysters. If you haven t tried octopus before, this is the place to give it a go. The pickled octopus was tender and very delicious.
After a plate of seafood move onto the freshly cooked steaks, roast pork, turkey and ham, not to mention the marinated chicken wings and fish in a delicious garlic butter sauce.
There are other 'cheaper' buffets available in Darwin however none match the variety and quality of the food on offer at The Jetty .
The wine list is both, comprehensive and reasonably priced.
For $32 a head (plus drinks) this place is a winner.
Don t forget to book and get in early, as parking is a problem for the late comers.

Given a chance, the staff enjoy demonstrating great pride in their work.
I specifically asked for a rare steak and it was no trouble for the staff to accommodate my request. It was not only cooked to perfection but beautifully presented with an astonishing garnish of sauces including a delicious creamy mushroom sauce on the side.
My last visit to this restaurant was a pleasant one however they have now moved up a notch or two.
At the end of the meal you can have your bill settled individually if you come as a group.
They do need a better accounting system for the number of persons in a group.
Whilst our group was only small (6 persons) we were questioned at the end of the meal as to the number in our group, they had accounted for 9.
Thank you The Jetty staff, you made a great night out even better.
I won t hesitate to return in the near future and will recommend the venue to all my friends.

A nice change of pace
We visited here with an interstate relative and chose this restaurant for its amazing location and word of mouth reputation. The food on offer was a selection of chinese dishes, various vegetable dishes to accompany the steak, and a simple array of seafood. Although they charge less for the children to dine, there wasn't much selection for the younger children who are fussy eaters and dont like spices. I would like to see crab dishes without chilli. The waitstaff attended to the clearing of tables quickly and took orders for paid drinks often, (water requests weren't delivered).

Value for Money
The food is quite good for buffet style although their great crab dishes are no longer on the menu. Service is very average with most staff in need of basic training. It's a good dry season venue but during the wet the atmosphere is only average. Overall what you get for the money it's pretty good value. Seems very popular with families.

Excellent value
My partner and I visited this beautiful restaurant (unfortunately only once) while on holiday in Darwin for one week. The food was sensational, atmosphere fantastic, location spectacular (on the deck outside is great). Overall is excellent value for money and would recommend it. Loved the mushroom salad.
