The brainchild of cookbook author and Women's Health Magazine food editor Teresa Cutter, the Healthy Chef is a cafe designed to help its diners live a healthier lifestyle by giving them plenty of food for thought. Packed with organic, low-carb, low-GI, protein-rich, gluten-free, wheat-free, vegan and vegetarian foods, this Avalon Beach cafe steers directly away from the greasy, glutinous and guilt-making stuff.
Instead, the breakfast bites here give you a healthy kick, like the homemade crunchy muesli with poached pear, Persian figs and vanilla yoghurt; or the organic scrambled eggs. For lunch, you might go for a roasted vegie frittata or chicken pot pie, then a gluten-free banana bread or flourless orange cake for a deserving afternoon snack.
