Greenhouse

It's easy being green when you're as good-looking and ethically sound as the Greenhouse, which is quite literally a pop-up greenhouse made out of recycled wood and plastic, also featuring a rooftop garden of freshly grown produce. The concept of a completely sustainable restaurant and bar is not so far-fetched when you see how the Greenhouse crew get by. Even the menu, under chef Matt Stone (formerly of Perth fine diners Pata Negra and Star Anise), maintains a local and organic ethos, sourcing free-range organic chicken from the Margaret River, biodynamic bread from Eden Valley, and local sardines from Fremantle, as well as the vegies harvested upstairs.

And what about the menu itself? You'll find sophisticated creations like skirt steak with a green papaya, cashew and fragrant herb salad; pig head and trotter terrine with mustard pear puree; and an impressive pizza featuring 24-hour slow-braised lamb shoulder with tabbouleh and yoghurt.

mmm yummy yummy
Ate here with a friend, ordered spicy almonds for starters expecting a teeny tiny bowl- surprisingly it was a decent serving size, enough for 4. Lunch mains were lamb with quinoa, cooked to perfection. Also ordered kingfish which came with a chilli and grapefruit asian style salad. Both mains were good servings, I was worried they would be too small. Then proceeded to some delicous macaroons with our espresso, which are comparable to some I've had in France. Pretty damn impressive this place. Will be back to taste more interesting flavours.
