Pleasant Surprise
A friend from work organized a Friday's dinner. Our party consist of six people and we all had a wonderful time. This was the first time that I have been there and my first impression was that it was a nice and cozy place situated in the corner. The waitress has a great smile on her face and made us feel very welcome. After our orders was taken, It didn't take long for it to arrived at the table. The food was delicious and taste like the way Thai food so taste. The right amount of spice and flavor was used. My compliment to the chef. By the end of the night we were very happy with the bill as well. Very reasonably priced.
In short, if you are looking for a Thai restaurant with great atmosphere, service and reasonable price, then I suggest you give The Green Mango a try. You won't be disappointed.

How much rice would you have to eat to make it worth $6?!
We used to go to the Green Mango quite regularly and had always found the food to be good and reasonably priced, however tonight's visit was disappointing.

We felt that the food was a bit over-priced, compared with other similar Thai restaurants in the area. For instance, most main meals cost at least $19, even vegetarian dishes.

We ordered a vegetarian pad thai noodle dish and the garlic pepper chicken. We wanted to share the dishes and order some rice to go with the chicken dish. We did not need rice to go with the noodle dish. Despite this, we were charged $3 per person for rice. When we queried this charge, we were told that we could not order a single serve of rice and that we would be charged per head, even though only one of our dishes required rice. Six dollars is a lot to pay for about 1 and 1/2 cups of rice!

The service was good but not outstanding, especially when we asked for clarification about the cost of the rice.

On a more positive note, the ambience of the restaurant has improved since we last went there and we didn't have to wait very long for our meals to arrive after we ordered. The after dinner mints were also a nice touch.

Consistently wonderful
I miss my favourite hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant in Los Angeles. It's tough finding places that serve consistently fabulous Thai food.

As other reviewers have said, the Green Mango is not the prettiest place - but honest Thai can be like that. And this lives up to that for sure - basic setting, but fabulous food.

I've been here many times. It's never disappointed.

Last night we had a group of 13. The serves are quite large, so we ordered 11 mains and some entrees. Perfect portion size. The chilli-ness of the food is a little overstated; their hot (4 chillies) is what others would call medium, but the medium hotness of most dishes seems to work for most people in a group.

The red duck curry is just fantastic - my long term favourite. You don't often find this dish, and the way Green Mango do it just makes the mouth sing. Yesterday we found a new favourite too - the garlic pepper chicken - which isn't very garlicy, but a whole mouthful of flavour.

I didn't get to taste all 11 dishes, but every single dish I did try was just excellent. One of my friends was as stunned as I was with every dish we tried. We just looked at each other with amazement as every one we tried was as good as the last.

If you like Thai food, do give this a try. The food is just fabulous. For the price, I haven't found anything in Brisbane to beat it.

Wonderful food
Lunch at the Green Mango is wonderful value. I had the basil tofu and it was really tasty & served very quickly, I have also had dinner there with a group of 5 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I can highly recommend there potato lentil balls. Not the flashest place but the food is definitely top notch!

Dinner for Eight
This was my first time at The Green Mango, but my friends have eaten here a few times before and thought it was good. Our gathering of eight was celebrating a birthday. So, a booking was made a few days in advance for five and then upped to eight the day before. The restaurant had no issues with the changes which was great.
Arriving at The Green Mango by car, we noticed the small restaurant precinct was very busy. Parking under the building was almost completely full. Luckily there was one space left for us. Our companions had arrived before and had also found a parking spot. Obviously there's just enough off-street parking for busy times such as these.
My first impression of the restaurant was where is it? Alfresco seems to be the theme for the three establishments at 57 Macgregor Terrace. They all melded in together, Italian, Thai and Nepalese, each with their own small inside eating and service areas expanding out to the blind-enclosed outside tables, with a small divide created by the car park stairwell.
There's a very reasonable, convenient bottle shop across the street and as The Green Mango's licensed for BYO we took advantage of the opportunity to indulge in a bottle of wine and a couple of beers before dinner.
We had consumed two bottles of wine and some stubbies of beer before our order was taken. Staff numbers were too small to cope with the level of business. However, the entrees and meals promptly started to arrive within ten minutes. I had Penang curried fish with jasmine rice and ate every skerrick of it. The food tasted fantastic. Nobody in our group had any adverse comments at all about the fare. Including the price - all meals are very reasonably priced so two can eat for the same price as only one in classier restaurants. To summarise, if you want value for money, great food and aren't too fussed on the atmosphere this is a good place to go.
