The grungy-turned-funky Grand has embraced the gastro-pub concept and added a distinctly Italian flavour. The dining room is frequently packed full of excited Richmond-ites, thrilled to have such a flash Italian eatery in what has long been their comfy local pub. As a result the atmosphere is often clamorous, chaotic and infectiously raucous, making it a great venue for a fun night out with friends.

Service
Why when a restaurant gets hats does the service become arrogant!!!. Booked for 8pm and they reconfirmed on the day. Arrive at 8 only to be told table was not ready,we were sent to a loud, noisy bar and offered a drink(which we ended up paying for)When at 8.20 she came to get us I said we booked for 8 and you confirmed .We were promptly told "you only had to wait 20min". Towards the end of the meal she gave us the bill wothout asking and before we had finished. We can only presume we were not wanted so if that is the attitude we will never return.

Quick late afternoon
I took my sister here after hearing some good reports. The look of the place is pretty funky, and one can easily relax in the atmosphere. The ambience is pleasant without being uptight. We had a drink at the bar then went in for dinner while it was still light and sunny outside. The meals were solid without being spectacular - gnocchi with sage and butter, pretty common dish, done competently. The spectacular thing was the quality of the house olives. These babies can be popped like nothing else. Someone in their kitchen knows what they're doing with olives, and knows how to do it well. If I could I'd buy them by the cart-load. If you're an olive fan, you must try these. The whole dinner was worthwhile.
