From the bottom of the ocean to the top of your palate, the fish served at The Fishmonger's Wife are totally fresh and relentlessly mouth-watering. It's no wonder that this humble fish and chips shop/cafe has caught the hearts of East Brisbane locals - hook, line and sinker. It's also grabbed wider acclaim from the Crisco Awards and Restaurant & Catering Queensland, the former christening it the "Best Fish and Chip Shop Australia" for two years running (2008 and 2009). While it does a roaring takeaway trade, The Fishmonger's Wife also has a casual alfresco area, and an air-conditioned indoor spot filled with booths. From the myriad fishy selections, including ample low-fat options and salads, highlights include the grilled teriyaki salmon, the pesto-crumbed barramundi, and the Cajun and lemon cod.
