What was once known as the legendary Oxford Street cafe Aristotles is now a revamped hub for all food, coffee and wine lovers. The Falconer is new, fresh and funky and offers a licensed cafe, restaurant and bar all in one. With its original fittings mixed with a little extra flair, The Falconer takes you back to an old school American diner setting with its retro green booths and chequered floor. Former Lucio's and Aqua Luna chef Andrew Prasad draws his flavours from Southern Italy and prides himself on bringing fresh local produce to your plate with a strong focus on organic and free range. A selection of healthy breakfast options, such as the homemade nutty, crunchy muesli with bananas and a vanilla bean yoghurt, are available early in the day, or for lunch, The Falconer offers a gourmet list of Italian-style paninis. However, it is dinner that continues to bring out the true taste of southern Italy: the risotto with duck, pumpkin, baby spinach and pine nuts is made with a homemade duck stock and is considered a favourite amongst locals, as is the braised wagyu beef cheeks with soft polenta and gremolata. The wines are carefully selected and, like the food, are sourced locally and won't break the budget. What complements this retro dining experience? Certainly the selection of tunes streaming from the in-house record player spinning original vinyl by Bowie, Costello and Grace Jones, among others.
