Having been in business since 1979, this slightly over-the-top but extremely fun "nautically nostalgic" restaurant is a Hobart icon and a well-loved seafood restaurant. Full to the brim with maritime memorabilia and boasting plenty of nooks and crannies to hide away in, the place is great fun for adults and children alike, so it has a very family-friendly vibe.
The food, not surprisingly, is mostly from the sea, and it is always the freshest of the fresh. They're happy to accommodate non-seafood eaters, vegetarians and gluten-free diners, too. A great place to enjoy a good, hearty dinner and an equally good, hearty Tasmanian wine, the Drunken Admiral will give you a taste of life on the high seas without leaving dry land.
