The Deck Bar

The enormous deck is shaded from the searing Darwin sun by trees - at times, a peaceful counterpoint to the bustling party scene of Mitchell Street. However, the Deck Bar more than holds its own in this setting, adding its fair share of vibrancy to the strip. With entertainment every night and a huge range of beers and cocktails to wet a dusty throat (its main claim to fame is its half-price drinks on Friday and Sunday nights), this is a great place to go for a raucous good time.

For those who aren't ready to get into the party spirit, there is a full menu of modern Australian meals. Relax with brunch on the weekends, a long lunch or some dinner on the deck underneath the fig tree. While lunch is a relaxed affair (including wraps, pizzas and burgers), the dinner menu is packed with an inspiring selection of dishes featuring local fish, crab and crocodile. Among the healthier options on the menu is a Mediterranean chicken salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, feta and a citrus dressing; or a Thai-style dish of glass noodles, vegetables and tiger prawns. Local mud crab is used in the Deck Bar's popular soup, which is finished with coriander and served with crusty bread. Patrons can work off any gastronomic overindulgence by dancing into the early hours of the morning.

Location, location, location.
Two positives: the location and the abundance of post-work office ladies!
The negatives: extraordinarily hard to order a drink during happy hours. As soon as the bell is ended to finish happy hour the bar clears like someone has yelled "fire". Then you can order and drink with ease.
Food untried but looks like fair pub grub.
