The Crosstown Eating House

Crossing town shouldn't be too much of a hassle with destinations like the Crosstown Eating House, a beacon within the growing dining scene of Woolloongabba. Set in an old-fashioned two-storey brick building, the Crosstown marks the arrival of a cool and unpretentious restaurant and bar for daytime bites, evening drinks and other culinary hijinks. The markedly simple mod-Oz menu oscillates between homely favourites, like meatballs and sauce; and neat originals like sausage with yellow peppers and garlic cream sauce. For those indulging in an Australian, French, Italian, New Zealand, Portuguese or Spanish varietal from the bar, a trip to the shaded courtyard makes for a nice social spot to enjoy delicious drops with nourishing nibbles.

Amazing!!

I don t often go to the Woolloongabba area but a colleague recommended the Crosstown Eating House so I booked a table for a Wednesday night and we had a great time.
A friend and I shared two entr?es; Fresh trout with a walnut salad and grilled haloumi cheese (which was to die for!!). For a main we both ordered the Lamb which was tender and cooked perfectly. All the ingredients were so fresh and displayed on the plate beautifully.
Excellent wine list selection as well!
Fantastic service, very friendly & vibrant and the restaurant was very busy, even on a week night!
Well done to the team at Crosstown.

Great Expectations
soon after the restaarant opened we visited on a supposedly quite weeknight. We were amazed to see the placed packed so soon after opening.

Knowing that this was the owners first venture after selling the Gunshop, we both had high expectations.

As it was so busy, we had to sat at the bar which initially we weren't thrilled about. However it turned out the be the perfect way to enjoy the food and atmosphere.

The food was fantastic: turkey meatballs; prawns and the white anchovy mayonnaise was a huge hit with me. The wine range is great, we really enjoyed the wines from around the worlkd available by the glass. Sitting at the bar certainly helps to get good advice on matching the wine and food.

We didn't try the main meals, but they looked and smelled fantastic as they passed by. The fresh pasta with ragu (veal?) looked especially nice.

Service was casual, unobtrusive, helpful and professional. Everything arrived in good time and together. The true test for me is when the waiter picks up on a mere glance in tehir direction. We certainly weren't rushed out the door either, despite the obvious need for the table.

Nice work team, perfect.
