A disappointment after new management
My family and I were frequent diners at the Cross until our last two experiences. The food was sub par with all of our mains tasting very bland. I ordered the prime Harvey beef but it didn't come close to meeting the standards of an authentic Harvey beef that I'm used to. The resturaunt itself is in a good location and nicely decorated. Thankfully the new management has decided against renovations.

Has this place changed hands
We haven't been for a while and on the night we went the were 6 other people there. We still waited 10 minutes to order drinks. Ordered a bottle of wine and we saw the manager go over the road to the bottle shop, come back and talk to the waitress who then told us that they didn't have our bottle. In the end we discovered they had 1 type of white wine so we settled for this (not acceptable with the markup they have). Bruschetta was average, bread soggy but nice tasty tomatoes. My rib eye steak was burnt on the outside but was cooked to the ordered medium rare, tasty nonetheless. Deb's pasta was tasty enough but again presentation let them down. Our son had kid's fish and chips and he wouldn't eat the fish which was dry and really didn't taste like anything. No dessert as we were disappointed from previous visits. Won't go again as much better value around for $130 odd bucks.

What a great place!
After going there for dinner and having a fantastic meal, had to head back for lunch the following week! Food cannot be faulted. Great presentation, great flavour and generous portions. The service was great, i just dropped a star for being a little bit TOO attentive - was a little invasive at first, but they left us alone once we got our meals.

Easy dining
Good food. Excellent portion sizes (certainly won't go hungry), child friendly, and nice clean high chairs (surprising these days)! Average wine list, however well priced and great service. Would definitely go again for a quick bite and to keep the kids happy.

A great local haunt
The Cross is a local haunt just a short walk from our place where you can just get a drink or have a full meal. We have dined here about eight times this year, spanning breakfast, lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. The food is genuine, tasty and good value, but nothing too flash and desserts from the display have always been fresh. The staff friendly and helpful. The alcohol prices are reasonable and you can BYO wine if you want, with a bottle shop over the road this is handy.
