It is with a reluctant hand that this piece is written; to date the Cricketers Arms eatery has remained a relatively well-kept Sydney secret. But it really is a secret too good not to be shared. After undergoing a menu overhaul in 2006 this quirky corner pub began offering guests a menu reminiscent of its glory tapas days but richer in composition and quality. The tapas section still exists, albeit in slightly more condensed form, including such dishes as salt and pepper squid; or the beetroot and haloumi salad, which never fails to extract the obligatory cooing from lovers of the soft cheese. The menu changes include the addition of a selection of hearty mains, including such pub classics as bangers and mash. On Sundays the menu is narrowed down to Sunday roast, with a choice of chicken or lamb, followed by a serve of bread and butter pudding.
