The Commons supplies something to the Sydney dining scene that was painfully absent - a restaurant dedicated to serving quality food in an effortlessly chic surrounding, without pretension. The decor stands out for its singularity: school desks and church pews combine with soft lighting and hand-carved sandstone walls to create an eclectic interior motif, worlds away from the regular formulaic fit-outs of so many other restaurants. People are also welcome to peruse the extensive collection of books and vinyl records here.
The food offered is similarly minimalist, with a premium placed on ethically-sourced, quality seasonal produce. The philosophy of this eating house is simple: do fewer things, but do them better.
