Spending time in this dining room is like being wrapped in a golden, decorated Easter egg foil. Yolk coloured walls pay homage to symbolist painter Klimt, with artist Sandra Anderson painting a version of The Kiss on one wall. If you are with a special someone, cosy up at the corner table nearby, where decorative touches such as an old-fashioned floor lamp will make you feel even snugger. The whole dining room is cradled in the embrace of a replica of Klimt's Tree of Life, with the painted branches curling over every wall. Bathed in golden light, the room evokes warmth and friendship.
Not surprisingly, classic pub food gets a modern twist here. The lamb burger is appreciated for its rustic, homemade lamb pattie and warmed buns. Grilled bacon and free-range egg are layered between salad and tangy tomato chutney. Further down the menu, the blue swimmer crab linguini is a treat with its handpicked meat tossed through with what is poetically describes as a "rich, sun-blushed tomato rose sauce". Shavings of grana padano provide a sophisticated finish - with this cheese's sweet and savoury flavours, we have a lot to thank those Italian monks for.
