The original HMAS Buffalo arrived in Glenelg in 1836 carrying new settlers, including Governor Hindmarsh. This full scale replica was built nearly 150 years later by local vintner and entrepreneur, Wolf Blass and houses a fascinating museum displaying maps, log books, diary notes, sketches and photographs, which tell the tale of the voyage and the people involved. Alongside the museum is a fine restaurant, which specialises in delicious seafood. This is one boat you should not miss.

The Buffalo, over rated?
Having seen The Buffalo many times as a child in Glenelg and always wanting to go there. I finally made it there for dinner one night. I think their reputation in previous years doesn't live up to the name with the service and food they have now. A restaurant that can have so much potential and had potential has now dwindled away into a dark corner of the restaurant scene in Adelaide. Considering they serve a lot of seafood, they should have a chef on hand that specialises in good seafood. But undercooked salt and pepper squid with raw batter left a bad taste in my mouth, along with poorly cooked fish, that is overpriced for the quality of food. Best get management to kick it up a notch and revitalise The Buffalo back to it's former glory.
