New owners and a new menu have given this Manly stalwart a new lease on life. Where some restaurants would be tempted to sit back and let the stunning views keep them in business, it's clear that the Bower kitchen is striving to eclipse the view with its modern and fresh cuisine.
Five-spice squid with mango and a Vietnamese salad is a welcome revamp of the tired salt and pepper calamari that is both fresh and accessible. It's a great way to start a meal before moving on to a mains menu dominated by seafood. Herb-crusted Atlantic salmon, barramundi done two ways and a mixed seafood gnocchi make up the crux of the menu, but when the sparkling Pacific is so close you can taste it in the air, you won't hear too many complaints.
