The Boatshed

The Boatshed offers fine dining, panoramic views of Perth and the river and a quirky historical twist. The restaurant is a replica boatshed complete with boating memorabilia. If you're feeling extravagant, try the seafood feast with octopus, crayfish, scampi, prawns and calamari. Their desserts, such as tequila and lime brulee tart, are hard to refuse.

An unfortunate experience
I was entertaining overseas visitors on their last night before they returned home. Booking was made easy and I did enquire if I was able to BYO wine however, was told "no" as the venue was fully licenced. The website clearly states BYO wine corkage at $2.50 pp. View was fantastic however, food and drinks including coffee was expensive for what we received(small portions). What really left a bad taste was the 10% Saturday night surcharge, which was a rip off. We refused to pay after a confrontation with management. They even got the bill wrong. There are other good restaurants in South Perth with just as good views therefore, we will not be returning to The Boatshed again. Too many large group, noisy functions were going on which was most disterbing.

Best chicken ever
I have to say that when my partner and I walked into The Boatshed we immediately felt out of place. We didn't have a booking and there weren't many people there as it was a Tuesday night. Furthermore, the average age of the patrons that night was easily around a rich 50. So while we sat on the couch at the front waiting for a table we gave each other funny looks as we realised the atmospheric "elevator music" covers of Elton John playing in the background. On the other hand, the view of the Swan was pretty stellar. And more importantly the food, although pricey, was decent. Additionally, The Boatshed managed to cook the most perfect chicken breast that I've ever had - and I've had a whole lot of chicken in my time. I'm not sure if this perfect chicken was an accident but when someone confirms that the daggy music isn't playing in the background anymore I may test them again.

Fantastic Atmosphere
Went to lunch on a Wednesday during the Christmas rush. Although the restaurant was packed, the service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. I gave the service 3 stars because they "lost" our reservation, but having said that we managed to get a table after a few minutes wait. The food was very good and the whole experience was worth the money.

Not a good experience
Visited this cafe on Sunday night, ambience of the city views over water was great, meal was nice, but the service we received whilst dining was poor. Two of our meals were given to the wrong table, we were then told after five minutes of having the other two meals delivered to our table there had been an error made. We were told they would take back the two meals that were delivered originally as the other meals would only be four minutes. 10 minutes later we were still waiting. When all the meals finally did arrive we were told we would receive complimentary coffees.
