Located in the historic Brassey, this fine diner offers a produce-driven, seasonal menu that carries off the delicate balance of traditional cuisine with some more modern influences. Expect to see classic dishes such as chargrilled porterhouse steak with a port reduction and potato gratin sitting comfortably alongside more innovative fare like confit duck leg with braised red cabbage and a licorice sauce.

Cynthias first accomodation in Canberra in 1966 was a few weeks at Brassey House - then the hostel for new-comers or the more highly-paid public servents. We went to this historic building to see what had changed. Plenty including the food.
A delightful meal in a peaceful setting with polite and prompt sevice. Perhaps we were lucky that there was no conference or abundent house guests, but there you go.
A comfortable bar and complimentary nibbles in a fine lounge or garden setting is great for preparing for a great meal.
