Smack bang in the centre of Canberra City is The Bakery Cafe, a predominantly breakfast and lunchtime hangout for professionals, known for its fine coffees, freshly made bread rolls, cakes and pastries; good old classics such as fish and chips; and the "Bunda Burger": a concoction of meat, bacon, cheese and salad on a bun, aptly named after its Bunda Street locale.
A slight Greek permeation can be seen in the inclusion of souvlaki and lamb dishes on the broad-ranging menu of this cafe/restaurant hybrid. Being the new kid on the block in a popular dining area, The Bakery Cafe offers an affordable alternative to big-city lunchtime dining.

old favorite, new ordinary
I used to love the old set-up they had in the mall. The little treats were awesome and the cosy position was charming - even if not well known. I was hoping they'd turn the new place into a success, but it has lost something. It just feels like any other bakery now, with little of the flare that they once shared so generously.
