Borrowing its name from the famous sea that holds the Greek Islands, the Aegean Restaurant brings more than just a mere splash of the Mediterranean to urban Melbourne. A popular place for small and large group celebrations alike, this Greeker-than-thou restaurant is often abuzz with live belly dancing, plate smashing and even interactive comedy nights. But what you're really interested in is the food, right? So let's take a sneak peek at what you can expect. In truly Greek fashion, the Aegean serve up homemade dips like taramasalata (caviar); mixed chargrilled meats like loukaniko (Greek sausage); and fresh seafood including an oven-baked fish of the day. And of course, a Greek restaurant wouldn't be worthy of its name without a deliciously saccharine homemade baklava.

Great place. Great music. Great food.
We had an unbelievably fun night!!! This place is great and more then just a sit down dinner. The manager was so helpful and taught us how to dance to the Greek music and even smashed plates for us. Our corporate dinner night was a hit. So much food and great music. Not the best wine menu, if known earlier we would have brought our own wine but apart from that it was a very enjoyable evening. And another point, if you don't like kids probably not the best place as there were lots of family's when we came.

Great dinner
My partners friend recommend this Greek restaurant knowing that we love traditional Greek food (we often travel to Greece a few times a year). We invited a bunch of our friends for a Saturday outing and we all had a fantastic time. The hostess was so lovely, making us feel very comfortable alongside the loud larger bookings surrounding us. This place was just incredible. The loud chef in the kitchen came out and had a good sit down and laugh with my husband, the Greek band was great and the dancing and loudness of the venue just oozed out with memories of Greece. We brought our own bottle of wine (NO charge to bring your own) and had a wonderful long sit down dinner. The home made bread was delicious, the dips were fresh and creamy AND the seafood platter was magnificent. If we return to Melbourne again ( Sydney residence) we shall be returning.

Will be returning
We celebrated my wife's birthday here and everyone had an excellent night. The venue is magnificent and the courtyard was cosy, perfect for our group. Everyone complimented the food and our guests seemed very happy. The salad and fruit platter was average. all of our guests enjoyed the live band and joined in with the dancing. My wife was very pleased. Highly recommend this place for a fun night and we'll be returning soon.

A Fun Filled Night
We had a lovely night celebrating my wife's 40th birthday. The venue inside was large and bustling with other functions taking place. We had a few table's of 80 + guests, who all got up and danced and enjoyed the live band and plate smashing, a good laugh! It was a very fun night, and the belly dancer was very good. The service was average (but didn't detract from our night). Plenty of food, almost to much. The seafood platter was very tasty, alongside the grilled cheese.
We all had a wonderful night, and we all definitely recommend it- on the condition that you want to expreince a big, loud and dancing filled Greek night.

A dissapointing experience.
Don't waste your time or money eating at this restaurant. I had booked a number of tables for a family function which turned out to be very dissapointing. There wasn't enough food and what was presented was not very tasty. Our tea/coffee and cake which was part of the banquet wasn't served. Peoples meals were also missed. The staff or lack of, were very blase` not much care was taken to make our night enjoyable. Definately not value for money.
