Delicious quality food, friendly and quick service..
I have been to this restaurant over ten times already and keep going back.. The food is exceptional, the service is always friendly and quick, there is always a waiter watching your table from afar and if you happen to need more rice on your plate, they are always there to serve you more. A popular dish on the menu is the Red Duck Curry which is just beautiful, a bit spicy but very yummy! They also have a dairy free and gluten free menu that you can look at which was great for friends i took there a while ago.
The place is very gay/lesbian friendly also.

Thai Pothong would have to be one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney to eat at..

the best b'day !!!!!
This restaurant is the best thai experience I have ever had. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. After dinner I got a ice-cream cake for free and all the wait staff sang "HAPPY B'DAY" for me and took a photo which I had emailed a few days after.
Will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a special place for a special occasion! Bravo!!!

Best Mother's Day lunch
This place was tops! It was Mother's Day and we were attracted by the crowd in this restaurant. Although, we didn't book, they found a table for us. The restaurant has a large floor space with lots of tables. The room was decorated from ceiling to floor with lovely Thai artefacts. The staff was run off their feet but so friendly and courteous. I tried the duck salad and it was so scrumptious, while my husband thoroughly enjoyed his red curry.
For a small price per person for the rice, one was able to have limitless amounts. The rice container would frequently be topped up without us asking. Truly, we could not fault this restaurant. Even the water was refreshingly cool. And the bathroom was spotlessly clean with nice music flowing through the walls.

I like it!!
I like this place, it's the best Thai I've had but the only thing is the price. It's more expensive than other places and being in Newtown where there are so many Thai places, it's always booked out. The range of food is also better than your average Thai place. Highly recommended.

One of the best in Sydney!
Definitely one of the best in Sydney! I've been able to get a table here without reservations (even on a Saturday night - although we did have to leave by a certain time, but it didn't pose a problem as we'd finished our meal well within that time without being rushed), but bookings are definitely recommended. Service is always polite and attentive. All dishes are great but the red duck curry is the standout dish on this menu as is the 3 flavour snapper. If you're looking for a quiet evening, this is not the place for you. Thai Pothong is always bustling with happy (and loud) diners! Great for functions!

Service was way too slow
Service was way too slow. We waited for more than an hour for our main courses after our entrees were served. Seemed like they forgot about our orders as the table next door came in after us and were served before us. We walked out of the restaurant and there was no compensation for the wait. We still had to pay for our entrees and drinks. Definitely not the place to go if you need to get to a show on time at the Enmore Theatre.

A Jewel of the King St Nile
The array of Thai restaurants along King Street is mind-boggling, as is the differing levels of service and quality. Along this Thai-studded strip, it’s easy to give in to your hunger by the second or third block but if you walk a little further, just before King Street splits at Enmore Road, you will find the jewel of the Nile.

Thai Pothong is a double-fronted restaurant brimming with eager diners. The decor is traditional, romantically lit and full of Thai artefacts and quirky finds. There is a bar at the back hosting a wide variety of mainly Australian wines, Thai-inspired cocktails, standards spirits and local and imported beers.
The menu offers the usual fare (coupled with interesting and creative monthly specials) but you will not be disappointed. Each dish is cooked to perfection and presented so well that you need to hold yourself back from devouring it from the minute it hits the table.

If the food isn't enough to entice you, the service is without a doubt, second to none. Charming, attentive and friendly, the staff at Thai Pothong aim to please.

We have sampled the Thai fare along the King Street strip but none compares to this little gem. Indeed, the prices are more expensive than the competitive alternatives but the food, service and quality is certainly worth paying that little bit extra.
