Terra Rossa Restaurant Bar

Terra Rossa is made up of a restaurant, bar and, for something a little different, a cheese room. Just make sure you don't totally lose yourself in the latter, nibbling on the cheeses with indecently rat-like enthusiasm, as the restaurant menu is not to be missed. It's made up of a vast array of treats, including a breakfast menu, an extensive tapas selection and an earthy, contemporary Italian dinner menu. The cheese room houses a great variety of cheeses to taste, preferably with a bottle of wine carefully chosen from the bar.

Post Theatre Dinner
With grumbling tummies we decided on an early dinner after an afternoon show. We began with the feature wine, which was quite a nice a victorian shiraz, and chose the chefs selection of tapas. Everything was beautiful especially the eye fillet, although I would suggest adding a couple of items as it was not quite filling enough.
I had a greek dessert (i'm not even going to try and spell it) which was amazing and my partner had liquered crepes which were devoured.

Great service, the staff were very attentive, would recommend going.

Overpriced
Three of us had less than an hour for lunch so I rang ahead and pre-ordered. I was assured that the food would come out at around 12:10 but it did not arrive until 12:25. WHen it did arrive it was very average for the price...the pizza was like a frozen one !

pre-theatre dinner
we were a bit short of time so we decided to just order two pizzas. we chose the prima vera and the mushroom. both were delicious. the bases were quite soft and fluffy, almost focaccia-like. if they didn't taste so good we would have said they were under-cooked, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt. the toppings were tasty and not too overloaded as 'gourmet' pizzas often are. the service was fantastic; friendly and fast. we would definitely return for pizzas but not for mains due to an absence of vegetarian options.

Looking for a post dinner dessert....slightly disappointed
My husband and I specifically went to Melbourne to experience the culinary culture which we'd heard so much abt over the years, perhaps our expectations were a little too high because we were a little disappointed. First the good things: efficient service, friendly waiters and wonderful ambience, however the desserts just weren't compatible with our taste buds. My berry crumble lacked balance, given it was jam packed with a dense oat crust and extremely rich fruit filling, the pastry base needed to be much more present. My husbands vanilla trifle based dessert was similar, certain layers were just too strong.
