It's a little off the beaten track for city slickers but, if you do find yourself in the country town of Yarck, a visit to its local tea rooms is worth it.
The country-meets-contemporary interior of the eatery is generally buzzing with locals dining on owner-and-chef Pietro Porcu's traditional Italian cuisine which is shaded with Sardinian elements. Although tea room by name, this eatery offers fare in the style of an Italian trattoria. Porcu believes in staying true to the tried-and-tested cooking methods of his mother country.
Lamb and kid are a house specialty but are only available seasonally. The rest of the produce is, where possible, sourced from Porcu's own property which is located a short ride from the tea room, giving the establishment that fresh-from-the-farm flavour.
The menu does change frequently and those who have experienced Porcu's cooking generally rave about the decadence of the chef's menu. If you plan on making that selection, be sure to come with an empty stomach. The multi-dish selection is a meal and a half.

Gourmet Traveller Feature Review - "A weekends-only trattoria has put the Victorian country town of Yarck on the culinary map. "
Gourmet Travller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide - "The name's a complete misnomer because there's not a scone in sight. But there is a menu that excites with Sardinian-influenced dishes created by Pietro Porcu."

A truly wonderful experience...
I've driven past the Tea Rooms of Yarck on numerous occasions, but never stopped because I assumed it was too busy... Today I stopped... and stayed for three hours! Magnificent food, friendly prompt service, great atmosphere; enough said! Go there... but don't be in too much of a hurry... there's a lot of wonderful food to enjoy. (If you are in a hurry, they will accommodate your needs, but I enjoyed being there too much to leave!)
