Fresh sashimi - good service
I ate at Tasuke last night, I was on a date, and we ordered the combination bento, miso soup, entree-size okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) as well as their dessert platter. The first impression I had of the place was that it was quite small, and easy to miss from the outside as you were walking past on that strip. But let me tell you, it makes up for its size with a casual, almost homely feel with fantastic food at a more than reasonable price. The menus are lacking style, but there are coloured posters all over the wall with menu items which make it impossible to not know what you're ordering. The wait staff were fantastic, smiling and polite. The obento box had a generous portion of fresh tuna, salmon and king fish sashimi, as well as tempura vegetables, a chicken skewer, eel skewer and four mini sushi pieces. I enjoyed every part of it. The miso was quite good, not outstanding. The mini okonomiyaki was hot and tasty. The dessert platter we ordered came with a delicious array of different ice cream scoops; including red soy bean and green tea with some other flavours. It also had a large slice of green tea cake (which was divine!) and fresh cream and strawberries. The whole meal, (including drinks) ended up costing us around $60 - which for two people, including entree, soup, main meal and dessert wasn't bad at all. I left the place with a smile on my face and will definitely be returning.

Let down by bad service
Atmosphere is nice, quite authentic. The food was tasty - I had the chicken katsu-curry - although the serve could have been more generous for the price. My dining partner's order got mixed up, and the waitress insisted that the mistake was ours, although we both were adamant that she had ordered chicken (she was served beef). Another table were told off when they asked after an item they had ordered which didn't arrive. Unfortunately it seems to be a language issue - the waitress not fluent in English or Japanese.
