Tarts is something of an institution, having been a popular lunch and breakfast spot on leafy Lake Street for many years, but this place is not resting on its laurels. Many items on the menu change daily and the space is forever being shuffling round, with new stock keeping the shelves bursting with gourmet goodies and nifty gift ideas: fine preserves and oils, creams and soaps, vases and candles, giftware and greeting cards. Homemade cakes, biscuits and tarts are encased in the glass cabinet, though there is always the option of sitting outside in the shaded alfresco area if the temptations inside are all too much. Breakfast offerings include Barret's toasted breads and a trifle of muesli, yoghurt, berries, honey and pistachio, plus 'the belly full' fried brekkie. The lunch menu flaunts flavour-filled bagels, toasted sandwiches and panini, together with an ever-changing array of creative gourmet salads, filo tarts and pies.

Sensational!
I been past this place a hundred times and its always busy. Finally went there for brekky and it was the best Ive had in a long time. The place very busy, no seats available, but we managed to find one. It took a while for the food but that was acceptable due to the amount of people in that small place and it was worth the wait.

A lovely Sunday afternoon
We came by on a lazy Sunday afternoon for coffee and cakes with friends. Just love the homely feel and the gorgeous cellar and outdoor seating. Loads of little nooks to have a quiet read and drink. Perfect for day-time dates!
The cakes were just scrumptious!
Will definitely be back!

Sunday brunch
Best breakfast I had in months! Food displayed looked amazing and tastes great too. I had the smoked salmon brioche for breakfast, later the vegetarian lasagne and my friend had a chicken panini we were both absolutely satisfied beyond words. Service was quick too, although my food came before the coffees did. Cute cafe.
