Offering fresh, tasty, traditional Chinese and dim sum, this recent addition to Hawthorn's scene has won itself a fair few fans early on. Dim sum chef Jason Au has previously worked in some of Melbourne's best restaurants, such as Flower Drum and Golden Dragon Palace, as well as Hong Kong's Eaton Hotel, and now brings his wealth of experience to Tao Tao. The upmarket restaurant is a sophisticated, intimate space, although children and families are very welcome, so the overall vibe is relaxed and the crowd eclectic. The mud crab with foie gras is a decadent, indulgent choice and early reports are that it's a standout dish in a restaurant set to have a few tongues wagging.
