Offering some respite from the throng of Italian eateries that occupy Melbourne's famous Lygon Street dining precinct, Tank Fish & Chippery offers an aesthetic and cuisine fresh from the other side of the Mediterranean. The Greek-inspired menu is humble yet perfectly executed, and it includes a modern interpretation of the Aussie favourite fish and chips.
The look here is clean and peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle outside, with blue and white walls, furnishings and fittings recalling the villages atop cliffs that dot the Santorini coastline. The menu, too, is a thing of beauty and simplicity, with fresh seafood complemented by tasteful sides and plump wedges of lemon.
All in all, this new addition to the Lygon Street dining strip offers a refreshing yet familiar option for those tired of the usual pizza and pasta the street is better known for.
