Run and owned by husband-and-wife team Darren and Mechaele Noble, Table 51 offers a relaxed dining atmosphere at the quieter end of Townsville's eating strip. The couple, who make a point of getting to know their regulars, have revamped the interior of the restaurant since they bought it in December 2007. Some of the changes have come in the form of a stylish pearly white bar, maroon walls, colourful floral artwork and, of course, a fresh menu.
The choice of food is quite extensive and also includes a range of gluten-free options where the sauces are cultivated in-house, with such dishes on offer as caramelised pork belly with Lyonnais potato and a warm apple and spinach salad; Creole-spiced quail; and garlic prawn risotto. Other mouth-watering inclusions include a spicy Indonesian curry with chicken breast pieces, tiger prawns, potato and pumpkin in an aromatic curry sauce with jasmine rice; bug and prawn fettuccini; and the signature dish of Moroccan lamb accompanied by a sweet potato rosti, honey mustard cream sauce and Cajun-spiced cashews. For those looking for something to wash it all down with there are approximately 13 different beers to choose from and a recently expanded wine list.
