Because of where it is
I had heard a lot of bad reports about Sydney Tower Restaurant. When my sister-in-law came to Australia, she wanted to eat at Tower Restaurant. I warned her about the place but she insisted on eating there as Sydney Tower is an icon overseas.
This was my second time there and I was not impressed with my first visit several years ago and I see, it hasn't changed. Upon our arrival, we had to wait for anyone, just anyone to take us to our table. Now here I must say, the view is breathtaking. It was a magnificent view but that was the only good thing about the place. We helped ourself to the buffet and we were waited on with drinks. The food tasted like ready made sauces and it was tough or overcooked. Like it had been sitting there for ever and a day. The wait staff I found were not that attentive or professional either. Like they had little or no experience at all. Most certainly not what you would expect from a venue of this calibre. I doubt any of them had done a hospitality course of any description. There was absolutly no professionalism or pride in their work.
Sydney Tower is one of the greatest icons of Australia. If we can't get it right there, what hope is there for the rest of our tourism industry?
