It's easy to forget the hustle and bustle of Parramatta Road outside by venturing into the warm, cosy and homely atmosphere established in Surjit's Indian Restaurant. Local families, students and professionals find themselves equally at home at Surjit's, and that's no surprise given the affordability - and, of course, the flavour of the cuisine. The Mughlai style harks back to imperial cooking traditions that originated during the Persian rule of India, so you're quite literally getting food that's fit for a king. Highlights include Surjit's signature lamb shanks, the jhinga malabari (shelled king prawns in a coconut milk aromatic curry), and the ever-popular dessert specialty, the cherry and pistachio kulfi (an authentic frozen ice cream delicacy).
