A let down
I dragged a friend into Supper Inn recently to show them how fantastic it was having been there many times years ago. The waiters were very rude, the suckling pig was as wondeful as I remembered it to be, and the bill was huge.

Food as good as always but...
We first went to the Supper Inn about 20 years ago and were very regular customers (up to three times a week!) for a long time. Back then the food was fantastic, the prices great, the service fabulous and the manager an utter gentleman. The restaurant reviews used to say it was the place where waiters from other Chinese restaurants went to eat after they knocked off! We eventually stopped going, though, because it was getting too crowded, too noisy and the service was getting too slow. Plus the food, although great, wasn't quite as great as it used to be.

We went back last night for the first time in about five years and it's still crowded, still noisy and the food's still good, but the service is unbelievably bad: the waiters seem to go out of their way to be grumpy and unfriendly, our tablecloth was dirty, there were bits of old food sticking to one of our rice bowls (we asked for a new one) and bits of old food sticking to one of our plates (which the waiter picked off with his fingers and threw on the floor and then put the plate back on the table).

We came away with our tummies happy enough but really taken aback by the lousy service. If the manager from 20 years ago had been there last night, he would have had a fit to see how their standards have dropped.
