Sunset Restaurant is a pretty informal dining spot, serving what is perhaps best described as quality buffet-style food - a combination that sees this eatery get extremely busy. The kitchen starts the day with a cooked breakfast buffet, moving on to a lunch buffet and offering either the popular seafood spread or the 'Starbaque' buffet for dinner. The seating is split between the air-conditioned comfort of the interior and a number of alfresco tables, where diners are wrapped in the balmy Darwin air and overlook the casino's lawns and the wet-edge pool.
Though the restaurant seats an ample 250 people, the popularity of the seafood buffet often sees the crowd of those waiting for a table spilling out the door. The buffet table is laden with fresh and imported seafood, ranging from the regulation prawns and oysters, to barramundi from the Northern Territory's own waters. Aside from seafood, there's also a selection of soups, salads, roasted meats from the carvery, tasty cakes and ice cream.
During the dry season (May to September), Sunset is also host to 'Starbaque'. As the fanciful name implies, Starbaque is a barbecue under the stars, held every night of the week. Live entertainment accompanies the barbecue from Sunday to Thursday.
