Not your average neighbourhood Chinese restaurant, Sun Wah breaks the mould by incorporating Australian and European influences into its menu and coming up with innovative numbers such as the ginger pear Queensland scallops served with crispy pork belly, golden pearl sago and chilli jam. Or there's the wonderfully light soft shell crab on a bed of salad, drizzled with wasabi mayo.
This is fusion cooking at its best, and the lucky Mordialloc residents who frequent this gem hold their cards pretty close to their chests, dreading the day their secret gets out. The degustation menu is hugely popular and showcases some clean, fresh flavours in dishes such as the teriyaki eye fillet beef and the stuffed chicken with sweet mandarin jus.
