Subiaco Hotel

Sitting smack bang in the centre of Subiaco's stylish shopping and restaurant scene is the young-at-heart, 100-year-old Subi Hotel. With elegant decor and innovative cuisine, it has matured with grace and won a string of prestigious awards. In the kitchen, acclaimed chef Brad Burton successfully retains the much-prized traditional Aussie pub feel with a menu that changes regularly. Talented florist Wayne Stubbs has done the same for the interior space too - every year creating a stunning installation design to complement the restaurant's unique blend of old-world charm and exquisite modern features. Live jazz on Wednesday and Saturday evenings lends the place an even cooler vibe, while on Friday and Saturday nights the leafy courtyard sports an alfresco bar to satisfy Perth's big appetite for the casual outdoor lifestyle.

Loved it
Went on a Wed night for a girls catch-up, and the place was packed- always a good sign mid-week in this town. All of us fussy foodies, and we loved every single thing that came to the table. Even something simple like dips with turkish bread- stunning flavours to the homemade dips, and actually enough bread to enjoy them. Pork belly was to-die-for. Salmon (which is often overcooked or cold in the middle) at Perth eateries was perfection- lovely and opaque, soft and juicy. Felt like we had a CHEF-WHO-CARES.

Service was efficient, knowledgeable and warm.

Only small gripes were the accoustics- very noisy when everyone talking and we were keen to hear a bit more of the live jazz (Penny King on that night and she was sublime). And the dining room was stinking hot. Massive industrial fan next to table helped cool us, but also really messed up our hair!! ;-)

Having said that, The Subi has a cool and stylish vibe, without making you feel you should be more fashionable, richer, younger, hipper or thinner to be there!

Will DEFINITELY be back, and really impressed with the food. Nice one Subi.

Consistently Good!
A great venue for our girls catch up. Only problem was that the menu has so many delicious sounding options that it is difficult to make a decision. The specials looked particularly tempting... but a few had finished by the time we ordered. All meals were enjoyed and plates left the table clean. I thoroughly enjoyed the duck.

Service was good, though felt we were being hurried out at the end of the evening, even though there wasn't another sitting to follow and we ended up leaving around 10 pm - with several tables still occupied.

Subiaco Hotel is a place where you can rely on consistently good and innovative food.

Yearning to return...ing!
The Subi is the place I yearn for between visits. The atmosphere is jumping, the crowd is friendly, the service is prompt and the food... oh the food!

Somehow our booking hadn't been made (!!), however the staff fit us in which was amazing. The Subi really is a must-book place no matter what time of day.

My Japanese crumbed tiger prawns were really delicious - with an interesting and refreshing apple slaw and wasabi dip. My friends relished the fish of the day and the Subi plate. Both their meals were tasty and exactly as expected. Food used to be considered expensive, but the prices are the norm for great fare these days. At $130 for three people with a bottle of wine, the price was nothing to flinch at.

Dinner on a rather hot Feb night wasn't very comfortable because the limited swing of the fans was useless. Also the building totally blocks any seabreeze from wafting through.

Wheelchair access is good. Small steps at each entrance, however flat off Rokeby Road into main bar area. Flat throughout bar and restaurant; very large wheelchair accessible toilet; easy-access parking close by in either Wilsons or council bays.
