A reputation for serving some of the best coffee in Melbourne and a scrumptious all-day breakfast menu are the drawcards for Armadale's Street Talk Cafe. Always buzzing with late-waking, early-lunching, afternoon-sipping and long-breakfasting locals, Street Talk is the perfect place to kick back at an outdoor table and munch on croissants, toasted focaccia and pancake stacks served with poached eggs and bacon and dripping with maple syrup. All the menu items have been developed and homemade from scratch by chef and one of two sister proprietors Wei, whose fresh baked pies, low-fat mixed berry muffins and Asian stir-fry rice and noodle specials keep the customers coming back.
The decor is cosy with Asian-style pop-art, colourful lanterns, postcard montages, a big central coffee table and wooden bench seating that runs the entire length of the wide front window. The international cafe cuisine travels from Italy to Thailand, China, Malaysia, modern Australia and back again with freshly squeezed juices, lunchtime soups, salmon caper and fetta salad with avocado, gourmet pizza, lasagne and daily specials displayed for perusal in the large glass cabinet buffet.
