Just when you thought the dining scene in Surry Hills had reached saturation point, along comes this long-term stalwart of late night diners with a plush refurb.
The Strawberry Hills Hotel, long known for its status as a cheap eats hero, has had a serious makeover and replaced the dingy carpet and gloomy atmosphere with bright, open spaces, modern fittings and a brand new menu.
The most refreshing thing about the Strawb's renovation is that the prices haven't been jacked up to cover the cost. Mains are capped at $15 and include anything from a wagyu steak to grilled barramundi. So frugal foodies out there take a deep breath and relax because the Strawberry is just as good as it has always been. In fact, it's gotten even better.
