While the technique of cooking on a hot stone is a somewhat recent addition to the world of restaurant eating, it's a method that goes back to the Mongolians, who would cook on stones heated by a campfire. To replicate this ancient tradition, Stones on the Lake heat their special stones in a 350-degree oven for five hours, meaning that once it reaches your table, it will hold the ideal cooking temperature of 300 degrees for up to an hour.
So there's really no rush to get started on cooking your meal, but there's plenty of fun to be had when you do. Choose your cut of meat (from options such as flavourful wagyu steak, filet mignon or Moroccan lamb cutlets) and cook it just the way you like it, with the enticing aroma of your dinner emanating from right under your nose. When it comes time for desert, your hot stone is swapped for a cold one, allowing you to create your own cold-stone ice-cream treat.
