Despite being a hotel restaurant, SQ is not just a dining choice for homesick and harassed businessmen. The location alone makes it worth visiting for both Adelaide locals and visitors alike, with the birds-eye views over Hindmarsh Square offering a prime people-watching view of the city's action. Casual, snackie lunch dishes give way at dinner to a more formal a la carte menu of modern meals, with dishes such as a golden-hued wagyu beef pie or a seafood lasagne helping to take the chill off a cool evening.

Pleasant surprise!
On a recent trip through town my partner and I stumbled upon this magnificent little restaurant tucked away in the Mantra hotel lobby on HIndmarsh Sq. The decor is swish; classy but young and vibrant and the ambiance was fantastic! After consultation with the waiter, whom was most knowledgeable (rarity!) we decided on the Dry Aged Angus Coorong Porterhouse steak and the Wild Northern Territory Barramundi.
Starting with a great selection of Tapas including 5 spiced squid and char-grilled pita with dips our mains were promptly served and we enjoyed every bit! Deserts were just too good to refuse as the waiter insisted we try the 'real' toblerone souffle with danish nougat ice cream and the Coconut & Vanilla panna cotta with chili and pineapple syrup(!) (*dribble*)They were, as promised, incredible.
On the whole, as ex-restaurateurs we were surprised not to have known about this little gem and thoroughly recommend you pay a visit!
5 star service with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

SQ coming back
The new menu looks and tastes fantastic. The best thing on the menu which used to be on a while back is the mushroom and fennel lasagne. Absolutely sensational! Would have to recommend to anyone! Great meal! Great service! Great atmosphere!

Going downhill
One good dinner visit in 2004, two follow-up lunches which simply do not measure up. On the most recent trip the seafood tasting plate was a bitter disappointment. Bring your magnifying glass to find this meal, served as a main, it was barely entree size.
