Spoonful

Nothing dramatic, nothing over the top, just amazing food, great ambience and seriously classy surrounds. Spoonsful of everything you could want from a great Melbourne cafe - and the coffee? Fantastic.

A Spoonful catered wake... food was out of this world (in a good way)
Acting as chauffeur for an eldery relative attending a funeral, after the service the gathered throng adjourned to the guild room of the church. Normal cups of tea, glass of wine. Then I find Chicken and Advocado sandwiches, small round pastry cases with perhaps melted fetta cheese, topped off with a sundried tomato and a few other small garnishes. The case was about the size of a 20c piece. Chocolate biscuits with a solid chocolate base, beautifully rich. Small rolls with beef, other finger food with salmon, beautiful little cakes about the size of a Coke bottle top. On top it looks like a small fried egg but is actually like a passionfruit cream with a brilliant glaze.

I asked one of the ladies who had the cooking talents in their catering committee. "Oh none of us... this all came from Spoonful, 543 High Street Prahran.

Spoonful is definitely high up on my list to visit very soon. Their food was fabulous
