Spinifex

Appearing on the Kensington scene in 2009, this little beauty has been collecting a solid fan base quietly but surely ever since. It's part bakery, part cafe, and over the course of a leisurely breakfast of Israeli baked eggs or baked beans and ham hock on sourdough toast, there's plenty of people-watching to be done. The locals stream in and out with their fresh bread and bakery treats and then stick around for slow-cooked lunches.

Breakie!
Just had breakfast at Spinifex with my boyfriend. After a bit of a wait we finally got a table. First time here as we have just moved to the area and it wont be our last!! My baked eggs were devine and a great coffee followed. The place is very busy so mental note... get in early or be prepared to wait! We will be back!

sunday breakfast
Breakfast on a lazy sunday morning is a must for us so we invited a few friends along to Spinifex for a feed. Get in early here as the place quickly comes alive with customers looking for a table! I had the house made baked beans with smoked ham hock on sour sourdough and can only be discribed in one word, bliss! My partner had the almond granola with poached pears and vanila bean yoghurt, she was impressed! Big breakies all round for my friends and yes the are big, cooked to perfection!
All washed down with some of the best coffee we have had in ages! Service was a little slow but understanderble as the place was packed. This will definately be a regular Sunday session for us. Highly recomended!

My Spinifex experience
Friends of my suggested I try out this new place so we did today with my partner. One word... AMAZING food!!! My partner ordered the Duck rissoto and was blown away! I had the wild mushroom and goats cheese omlette with truffle oil and can honestly say... Do yourself a favour and visit this place! Good service, great coffee and amazing food! Yummy breakfast
I've been grabbing a takeaway morning coffee from Spinifex for some time before I had the opportunity to have brekky there. I'm happy to say that it was definitely worth the wait. A terrific serving of poached eggs and smoked salmon on potato rosti really kick started my day - standard fare at most cafes I know, but the flavoured oil drizzled over the top really set it off. My better half asked to order from the lunch menu - no problem whatsoever (a pleasant change from some other places). Her dukkah crusted lamb burger was devoured from the plate very quickly too.

We were very impressed with Spinifex, good coffee, well priced and good service. I'm very glad that it's just around the corner. This will be a regular haunt for us.
