Spiedo


The undisputed king of the Spit (not to mention the spit-roasted spiedo bresciano, from which this place takes its name), Ormeggio's Alex Pavoni, has decided to branch out to the city, joining the already stellar line-up at the new Westfield.

Pavoni joins the likes of Justin North, Amy Chanta and David Tsirekas in the upper echelons of the Westfield Sydney dining precinct, but his food certainly won't be out of place. His signature Lombarian cuisine of his native northern Italy speaks of a subtlety and comfort that is miles away from the gloopy red sauce and pasta we normally associate with Italian cuisine in this country.

In fact, one of the true highlights (definitely not the only one) of dining at Spiedo is peering into the open-plan kitchen to figure out how such a mountain of a man creates such delicate food.
